PLAZA MAYOR EDITA "L'UOMO DEL LABIRINTO" DE VITO LO RE

L’UOMO DEL LABIRINTO / INTO THE LABYRINTH
(Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Director Donato Carrisi
Cast Dustin Hoffman, Toni Servillo…
Music Composed, Orchestrated & Conducted by Vito Lo Re
Orchestra: Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra
Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd
Distribution Sergent Major Company Ltd – The Orchard

The film tells the sotry of Samanta (Valentina Belle) who’s abducted on the way to school by a giant rabbit. Fifteen years later, she’s in hospital, in shock but alive, with Doctor Green beside her trying to help her remember. Together, they negotiate Samantha’s memories of the labyrinth, an underground prison, apparently with no way out, in which someone forced the young woman to play games and solve riddles and puzzles, rewarding her successes and punishing her failures. Also eager to sole the mystery is Bruno Genko, a private investigator with a surprinsing talent. He doesn’t have much longer left to live and, as such, Samatha’s could be the last case Bruno work on...

Each soundtrack has it’s own concept and from that notion the music attempts to express the visual and aesthetic idea of the director. The more the director is a perfectionist, the more the work of the composer becomes extremely challenging and yet satisfying as well. Particularly in thrillers, there are several composers whose influence is undeniable: Bernard Hermann, Jerry Goldsmith, James Newton-Howard, Howard Shore and John Ottman, among others. This is the musical world I moved into while never forgetting a typical Italian cantabile that evokes strong themes able to inextricably link to the movie as only skin could do.
I used several synthesizers together with the orchestra, particularly to draw out the mystery of the labyrinth. The labyrinth is cold, wet and frightening. Electronic sounds are perfect to express these features. But when we need to convey not a situation but a character, there is still nothing better than the dear, old orchestra. No sample can do the same job as 75 people breathing and playing together. Even if it could be technically more perfect, it will always miss the soul. And that's definitely the composer's job: touching the soul. Only the audience and time will reveal if we have been able to achieve this goal.

HOWLIN' WOLF EDITA "SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT" DE PERRY BOTKIN

You've made it through Halloween, now try and survive Christmas.
Howlin' Wolf Records is proud to present a Two-Disc Set for the 35th Anniversary of SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT. Disc One is the complete score by Grammy-winning composer Perry Botkin and Disc Two contains the songs written for the film by renowned songwriter and singer Morgan Ames.
On November 9th of 1984, a mentally-tortured and deranged Santa was unleashed on an unwitting public, and the result was a mayhem of whimsically evil holiday fun that thrills horror film lovers annually. The film also provoked the ire of those who wanted to censor the concept of an unhinged Santa. Screenwriter Michael Hickey sardonically recalls, "America's moral guardians decided that nobody of any age should be permitted to see any entertainment that was not suitable for a six-year-old child."
The concept for a killer Santa was the creative muse of film producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead and brought to life for celluloid by screenwriter Michael Hickey and director Charles E. Sellier, Jr. The film follows Billy Chapman from his disturbing encounters with malevolent grandfather Chapman through the horrific murders of both of his parents by an evil Santa on the lam. Afterwards Billy and his brother are sent to an orphanage with a stern disciplinarian Mother Superior (brilliantly played by Lilyan Chauvin), and Billy finally lands at the toy store with the bumbling Mr. Sims, who after having him dress up as Santa, finally sends Billy over the edge as a Santa who has EVERYONE on his "naughty" list!
The score by composer Perry Botkin is a classic electronic score from the '80's that is truly one of the most celebrated elements of this perennial cult classic. The composer recounts, "I'd never seen a slasher movie in my life until I watched SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, so I had no preconception about what a slasher/horror score should sound like, or what other horror composers had done in the past or were doing at that time. I just sat down with my Mac Plus, banged away, and out came the score." ...And what came out is a brilliant mash-up of frenzied horror cacophony blended with melodious euphony, and a virtual carnival funhouse of electronic holiday madness. As an added treat, the release features a second disc with all of the songs written by Morgan Ames, which throughout the film add just the right touch to contrast the merriment of Christmas against the backdrop of a horror film.
For the SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 35th Anniversary Edition, audio technician Ian Zapczynski sourced Perry Botkin's score from the 192 kHz direct transfers of the composer's original analog master tapes, with the tape-to-digital transfers supervised by Howlin' Wolf Records at Avatar Studios in NYC. It was important to salvage every piece of audio that would be of interest to soundtrack collectors, and at the highest audiophile-grade quality possible, securing this as the definitive edition of the complete SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT soundtrack set on CD. All tracks for Perry Botkin's score were fully remastered from the flat tape transfers, and digital restoration techniques were used where necessary, with care to remain faithful to the high quality of the master recording. In addition, two short tracks that were not previously released are added to the tracklist, including the film's opening "Santa's Watching." The construct for this soundtrack edition centers around the original mixes used in the film and the alternate mixes prepared for an '80's LP release that never came to fruition. Each alternate mix contains audible differences from its corresponding track, most notably a heavier use of reverb and stereo separation on the tracks mixed for the never released '80's LP.
Howlin' Wolf Records' 35th Anniversary Release for SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is a pressing of 300 CDs, featuring the unforgettable original poster art for the film, a 20-page deluxe booklet with liner notes by Co-Executive Producers Scott Schneid & Dennis Whitehead, Screenwriter Michael Hickey, and Composer Perry Botkin, all balanced against a canvas of beautiful designs and vivid imagery by graphic artist and long-time Howlin' Wolf Records Art Director Luis Miguel Rojas.

WARP EDITA EN DICIEMBRE EN CD "UNCUT GEMS" DE DANIEL LOPATIN

UNCUT GEMS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK TO BE RELEASED DECEMBER 13 ON WARP RECORDS
THE FILM STARS ADAM SANDLER AND WILL BE RELEASED BY A24
FOLLOWS GOOD TIME OST, WINNER OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACK AWARD CANNES 2017

Daniel Lopatin returns as composer for Josh and Benny Safdie’s latest film, Uncut Gems, whose soundtrack will be out internationally December 13 from Warp Records, the same day the film is released in U.S. theaters by A24. The film stars Adam Sandler, NBA player Kevin Garnett, Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, and Julia Fox, and has screened to rapturous response from critics and audiences at the Telluride, Toronto and New York film festivals. The hypnotic crime thriller follows Sandler’s Howard Ratner, a charismatic jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score, on a twisted odyssey in pursuit of the windfall of a lifetime (watch trailer).

Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and the Safdie brothers have developed a close partnership through their shared love of cult genre movies and music. As Josh Safdie recently said in an interview with Variety, "I was a fan of his music… his albums are very conceptual, and he was making basically scores for movies that didn’t exist. So when we met on Good Time, after he saw the way we were using a lot of Debussey on our film prior to that, he was like, ‘Oh let’s get deep together,’ and we’ve become very close friends."

The Uncut Gems OST is available to pre-order at http://opn.ffm.to/uncut-gems

Press reactions to Uncut Gems:

“A remarkable percussive soundtrack by Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) overwhelms the constant whir of action.” - IndieWire

“Daniel Lopatin’s score mixes electronica and opera in menacing fashion that keeps viewers’ blood pressure high, but also contributes to the strange magic the Safdies are working.” - Thrillist

“There’s also an acute sense of neurotic, nervous energy which means the film zips by, aided by Daniel Lopatin’s electro-synth score which amps up the tension to breaking point while also adding a hint of the fantastical.” - Little White Lies

“The visual assault is matched by the sound. Howard approaches conversation like a machine gun duel; over the jostling layers of dialogue, Daniel Lopatin’s twitchy electronic score adds a further element of tension.” - Screen Daily
