Mondo, in conjunction with Lakeshore Records, is proud to present Theodore Shapiro's score to Karyn Kusama's masterful 2018 film, DESTROYER.
DESTROYER tells the story of Detective Erin Bell (Nicole Kidman) whose life is turned upside down when a past life comes back to haunt her in the form of ink-stained money and a corpse with a mysterious neck tattoo of three black dots. 
Like their previous collaboration (THE INVITATION), Theodore's score is emotionally devastating. Similar to Erin Bell, the album is rageful, intense, loving and sublime. The album is a journey, sonically tracking from bank shootouts to foot chases and hubristic comeuppances - ultimately arriving at one of Theodore's beautiful pieces of music titled 'Ecstasy.'

NEW YORK, NY (February 15, 2019) – Sony Music proudly announces the release of VAN GOGH: OF WHEAT FIELDS AND CLOUDED SKIES (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) featuring original music by composer REMO ANZOVINO
Of the soundtrack, composer REMO ANZOVINO says, “Composing the score was an intense journey, an all-consuming experience. The music had to represent the subjective point of view of both protagonists: saying with sound what he must have felt, shut away in the asylum in Saint Remy, painting Starry Night (‘Vincent’); what she must have felt avidly reading his letters to Theo and voraciously viewing his paintings (‘Helene’). What it meant to find yourself in Arles at midday in the middle of a wheat field and to feel, as Vincent wrote to Theo, ‘like a cricket’, happy as never before, literally exploding with colour (‘Arles symphony’).”
VAN GOGH: OF WHEAT FIELDS AND CLOUDED SKIES provides a new look at Van Gogh through the legacy of the greatest private collector of the Dutch artist’s work: Helene Kröller-Müller (1869-1939), who in the early 20th Century, ended up buying nearly 300 of his works, paintings and drawings included. This is a story that tells the tale of the spiritual bond between two people who never met during their lifetime (Helene Kröller-Müller was 21 when Van Gogh died in 1890), but shared the same attraction for the Absolute, the same uncompromising search for a pure artistic, religious dimension.  Directed by Giovanni Piscaglia, the screenplay is by Matteo Moneta with consultancy from Marco Goldin. The film is produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital with Veronica Bottanelli as an executive producer. The accompanying narrative to the documentary is provided by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.  The film is a part of Nexo Digital’s artbeats project, which aims to bring a worldwide access to art documentaries together with their soundtracks, captured to seize amazing images from completely new and exclusive points of view.
ABOUT REMO ANZOVINO
Born in 1976 to Neapolitan parents, Remo Anzovino began playing the piano and composing music as a child. At age 24 he obtained a first-class Law degree with honors from the University of Bologna, specializing in Criminal Law. Anzovino is currently considered one of the most influential composers and pianists in the Italian music scene. His style is the perfect intersection between art music and world music, it’s the result of a long experience composing for the theatre, advertising (for brands such as Alitalia, Bulgari and NewHolland) and for the cinema. Among the many music titles of the silent pictures he played with orchestra and piano solo, there are many cult movies such as:

His work is inspired by film and visual media, whether that is celebrating Pasolini, writing a complete soundtrack for “Fight For Freedom”, a recent film about Muhammad Ali, or “To duration - A tribute to Peter Handke” in 2017; and more creating the original soundtracks for “Hitler versus Picasso and The Others: The Nazi Obsession”, for “Van Gogh: of wheat fields and clouded skies”, two art movies released in April and May 2018 in over than 50 countries. Moreover he just finished the original soundtrack for the movie "The Water Lilies by Monet. The Magic of Water and Light".
Remo Anzovino’s latest album entitled “Nocturne” (Sony Music Italy), was released on 29th September 2017 for digital download, to main music streaming platforms and through traditional record stores. The vinyl version is also available as a double LP. “Nocturne” was recorded between Tokyo (JVC Victor Studio), London (Abbey Road), Paris (Les Studios Saint Germain) and New York (Brooklyn Recording). This modern, incisive album was produced, recorded and mixed by Taketo Gohara, with orchestral arrangements by Stefano Nanni, who also directed the London Session Orchestra.  Some of the top-level International musicians who made their sensitive contribution to the project are, on Chinese violin Masatsugu Shinozaki, first violinist with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Armenian Vardan Grygorian, considered to be one of the finest Duduk players in the world, French musician Nadia Ratsimandresy, one of the foremost virtuoso players of ‘ondes martenot’ and Gianfranco Grisi, who invented the ‘cristallarmonio’ (glassharmonica) and is unrivalled in the art of glass-playing.
The Yamaha Music Europe have chosen Remo Anzovino to be a Yamaha Artist and Brand Ambassador, stating: "Yamaha will accompany Remo Anzovino though his career, having recognized that his unique musical expression combines a modern, International way of composing with a markedly Italian taste for beauty."

PREMIOS BAFTA Y GRAMMY 2019

Lady Gaga, Lukas Nelson y Bradley Cooper se han alzado con el premio Bafta británico a la mejor música por Ha nacido una estrella. Es cierto. No es 28 de diciembre. En el camino se quedaron compositores de la talla de Terence Blanchard (Infiltrados en el KKKlan) , Nicholas Britell (El blues de Beale Street), Alexandre Desplat (Isla de perros) y Marc Shaiman (El regreso de Mary Poppins).
Y en lo que se refiere a los premios Grammy, el ganador en el apartado de mejor score del año ha sido Ludwig Goransson por Black Panther. Los nominados que se quedaron sin premio fueron Alexandre Desplat (La forma del agua), John Williams (Star Wars: Los últimos jedi), Hans Zimmer y Benjamin Wallfisch (Blade Runner 2049) y Michael Giacchino (Coco).

NOVEDADES DIGITALES DE DISQUES CINÉMUSIQUE



Disques Cinémusique presents a first digital compilation album of original soundtracks by Eldon Rathburn (1916-2008), one of the most distinguished Canadian film music composer.

Eldon Rathburn scored over 250 films during his thirty-year tenure as a staff composer at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). He wrote and conducted music for short and medium length films documentaries, as well as such feature fiction films as Drylanders (1963), Nobody Waved Good-bye (1964), Waiting for Caroline (1969) and Who Has Seen the Wind (1977). 

Rathburn also collaborated to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and private production companies. He notably provided music for a number of early IMAX films, including  the Momentum, Expo’ 92, Seville. After his retirement from the NFB in 1976, he continued to compose both for the screen and the concert hall. 

Rathburn was the subject of a 1995 NFB documentary by Louis Hone titled Eldon Rathburn: They Shoot... He Scores. A book on his life and work, authored by James Wright (Carleton University), will be published by the McGill-Queens Press in 2019.

Eldon Davis Rathburn a écrit et dirigé la musique de plus de 250 films au cours de ses trente ans à titre de compositeur permanent à l'Office national du film du Canada. Il s'agit surtout de courts et moyens métrages documentaires et d'animation, mais aussi des longs métrages de fiction tels que Drylanders (1963), Nobody Waved Good-bye (1964), Waiting for Caroline (1969) et Who Has Seen the Wind (1977).

Rathburn a également collaboré avec la Société Radio-Canada et le secteur privé. Il a notamment fourni de la musique pour des films IMAX, dont Momentum, produit pour l’Expo ’92 à Séville. Après sa retraite de l'ONF en 1976, il a continué à composer pour l'écran et la salle de concert. 

Em 1995, Rathburn a fait l'objet d'un documentaire de l'ONF réalisé par Louis Hone et intitulé Eldon Rathburn: They Shoot... He Scores. Un livre sur sa vie et son travail, rédigé par James Wright (Université Carleton), sera publié par McGill-Queens Press en 2019.

Maurice Blackburn 

Disques Cinémusique presents a first digital compilation of soundtracks by Maurice Blackburn (1914-1988), one of Canada's leading film music composers.

A composer of great stylistic diversity, Maurice Blackburn has written and conducted the music of some 150 films, including documentaries, fiction and animation. He has also composed award-winning symphonies, operas, concertos, and solo piano pieces, many of which have been regularly performed in concert. His career with the National Film Board lasted 40 years, during which he composed soundtrack for some of the great films of the development of Quebec cinema, such as Alexis Tremblay: Habitant (1943) by Jane Marsh, Tit -Coq (1953) by Gratien Gélinas, À tout prendre (1963) by Claude Jutra, J.A .Martin, photographer (1977) by Jean Beaudin, and Dying at the Top (1979) by Anne Claire Poirier.

Blackburn is also well known for his long and successful collaboration with animator Norman McLaren, who produced The Gray Chicken (1947), A Phantasy (1952), Blinkity Blank (1955), and A Chairy Tale (1957) and Pas de deux (1968), two Oscar nominated films.

The music of Maurice Blackburn, inspired in part by folk music, partly by contemporary music, is known for its lively and colorful character. Many of his works have some of the characteristics of early 20th century French music, notably the propulsive rhythm, reminiscent of Arthur Honegger and Francis Poulenc.

In his book Musique (Montreal, 1945), Léo-Pol Morin describes Blackburn as "imaginative, impulsive, a lively and caustic poet whose first concern is to express the reactions of his mind through music. A creator of images, he is talented for color and design, and the stories he tells us are original, lively and spontaneous. "

Il a également composé des symphonies, des opéras, des concertos et des pièces pour piano solo primés, dont plusieurs ont été joués régulièrement en concert. Sa carrière au sein de l’Office national du film a duré 40 ans, pendant lesquelles il a composé la trame sonore de quelques-uns des grands films du développement du cinéma québécois, comme Alexis Tremblay : Habitant (1943) de Jane Marsh, Tit-Coq (1953) de Gratien Gélinas, À tout prendre (1963) de Claude Jutra, J.A. Martin, photographe (1977) de Jean Beaudin, et Mourir à tue-tête (1979) d’Anne Claire Poirier. 

Blackburn est également bien connu pour sa longue et fructueuse collaboration avec l’animateur Norman McLaren, laquelle a produit les films La Poulette grise (1947), A Phantasy (1952), Blinkity Blank (1955) ainsi que A Chairy Tale (1957) et Pas de deux (1968), deux films nommés aux Oscars. 

Pendant les années 1950, Maurice Blacburn se concentre également sur l’art de fabriquer des instruments à cordes sur mesures afin de produire les sons spécifiques qu’il désire enregistrer. Pour Expo 67, il a composé la musique pour des films présentés dans plusieurs des pavillons, incluant celui du Québec et des Jeunesses musicales du Canada. 

La musique de Maurice Blackburn, inspirée en partie par la musique folklorique, en partie par la musique contemporaine, est connue pour son caractère entrainant et coloré. Pusieurs de ses œuvres possèdent certains des caractéristiques de la musique française du début du XXe siècle, notamment le rythme propulsif, rappelant surtout Honegger et Poulenc.

Dans son livre Musique (Montréal, 1945), Léo-Pol Morin décrit Blackburn comme étant « imaginatif, impulsif, un poète vif et caustique dont le premier souci est d’exprimer les réactions de son esprit à travers la musique. Un créateur d’images, il est doué pour la couleur et le design, et les histoires qu’il nous raconte sont originales, vivantes et spontanées. »
